If you or someone you know was born in the month of October or is from South Australia than you probably know a lot more about opal than most of the rest of the world. If you're from a mining area in Humboldt County, Nevada, you may know a bit more about opal or if you're from Spencer, Idaho you may be more on the track of opal. If you're from Mexico, South America, Brazil, Honduras, South Australia, New South Wales, or even areas in western Queensland, you may know more about opal than others. But you may not. Here's the reason why: Opal is found just about everywhere. While most of the opal in the world comes from Australia granted, there are so many other deposits of opal and other countries all around the world that it seems almost silly. Granted, opal is the national gemstone of Australia and more than 90% of the world's opal is made there, but due to these sporadic deposits in countries all over the world it seems almost little bit silly to be saying that opal is here or opal is there. Ranging in color from collarless through white, blue, gray, red, yellow, green, brown, and black it seems that opal is as much a part of our world as it is not.
If you're interested in investing in some opal for yourself you should run out to your local jeweler right away. While Black opal maybe a little more difficult to locate or fire opal depending upon where you are in the world, there is such a proliferation of opal and that it seems like you should be able to strike a deal with somebody somewhere. Jewelers are always looking to deal in opal just due to its relative popularity and its abundance of product they probably will be able to cut some sort of deal with you even if it is something rarer like white opal with sterling silver rings.
If you would like an opal ring for your consideration you should remember that there are a wide variety of types from which you can choose. Whether it's Mexican opal, US opal, or the more popular and available Australian opals from places like the Royal Peacock's opal mine then you should be able to find something somewhere from someone. The thing about opal is it is considered very common and it can be found in any rock anywhere literally.
