Sapphires are found all over the world though most Sapphire has been in retrieved from the likes of such far-flung places as Thailand, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, and the world's biggest producer of Sapphire is in Australia. Other countries that really seemed to have no connection to one another but have a large amount of Sapphire or have had sapphires produced their include Afghanistan, India, Tanzania, Kenya, and Pakistan. Safire is also found in the United States, predominantly from the great states of Montana and North Carolina. Sapphire can be found in jewelry stores all over the world as well. Due to its large production base and the fact that it comes in so many different types and colors there should be Sapphire in just about anywhere you want, in any country you live in.
One of the most popular types of jewelry using the sapphire stone are sapphire rings. Sapphire jewelry can be very beautiful whether it's blue sapphire, pink sapphire, white Sapphire, or any other type of Sapphire and you are using, and the jewelry piece should really be what stands out about sapphire stone and not what it is not. If you go into the discussion with expectations that the Sapphire will be something then you are that much at a loss because when it doesn't mean your expectation, you may be disappointed.
One of the things that can be pretty cool about sapphires is the Star Sapphire which presents a phenomenon as front which is known as an asterism. An asterism is a star shaped optical illusion on the sapphires front; perhaps the most famous of these types of Sapphire is the star of Bombay which is in the Smithsonian and is a fine example of a Star Sapphire.
